Certified Executive Coach & Padraig Associate

Shayne’s mission is to support Canadian physicians to lead significant positive change. Shayne believes that collaborative physician leadership is essential for both physician wellness and quality patient care. He has a strong vision of vibrant creative physicians thriving in a strong health care system.

Shayne sees executive coaching as a developmental relationship that supports individual physician clients (and their teams) in their goals to learn, change, and reach new levels of performance.

Shayne’s coaching is non-judgemental, appropriately challenging, and enjoyable. It combines his strong personal orientation to supporting others with his enjoyment of learning, teaching, and conceptual thinking. Shayne uses a systems perspective that helps leaders achieve real world success by addressing and changing leader-team interactions and patterns, to first achieve alignment, and then results.

Shayne graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine in 1989 and following residency and fellowship training has gained over twenty years of experience in medicine as a pediatric subspecialist, physician-scientist and physician-leader. He is the founding director of the University of Manitoba Clinician Investigator Program where he trains the next generation of medical researchers.

Shayne graduated from Royal Roads University as a Certified Executive Coach in 2016 and completed the Royal Roads University Coaching with LEADS course in 2017. He is certified by the International Coaching Federation and is a member of the Institute of Coaching (McLean Hospital / Harvard Medical School affiliate).

Shayne takes great pride in his contributions to patient care as part of some amazing clinical and research teams, in the younger colleagues he has mentored, and in the success of his coaching clients.
