The Skill, Comfort and Confidence to Lead Others

So many managers and leaders are disappointed after being promoted to the role. They used to love their work and now, instead of doing that work, they spend their days managing others and solving problems for them. That disappointment doesn’t have to be the case.

The Workshop Overview

When leaders and managers are exhausted or frustrated by managing people, it’s often because they weren’t given good training to prepare them for the management role. They don’t have confidence in themselves to do it well and they get frustrated by that. Once a leader or manager learns how to figure out the people they’re managing and starts leading others in the ways they best respond to, they usually discover they enjoy their leadership role.

Flexible leadership means moving from a one size fits all (“this is my leadership style”) approach to providing direction, motivation, and development in a way that aligns with each individual. The most talented, most successful, most confident managers and leaders notice the needs of their employees and adapt their leadership style accordingly. That may seem daunting, but these are important skills that your leaders will develop with this course.

What Participants Learn

  • How to identify their foundational leadership style and explore the priorities that drive them during the workday.
  • Ways to describe how behavior styles (their own and others) affect management responsibilities like decision-making and problem-solving.
  • How to appraise their strengths and challenges when directing and delegating to others and adapt their behavior to manage people more effectively.
  • What is needed to motivate others and plan how to provide it.
  • How to provide resources, environments and opportunities that support long-term professional growth and prioritize what is needed for each employee.
  • Strategies to maximize their influence and effective communication with their own leader.

      The Personalized Profile

Adding a deeply customized aspect to this program, each participant completes the DiSC Management assessment ahead of the workshop and then we provide them the customized profile that results. We use the profile throughout the workshop, allowing participants to make very personal connections to the content.

      Before and After the Workshop

In many ways, the follow-up effort after a workshop is just as important as the workshop itself. Your participants will have a great day of learning in the workshop but it’s how they apply that learning back at work, in the real world, that is going to make the difference and boost your ROI.

Setting Up Success before the Workshop

Padraig’s online learning portal is at MyLeadershipTools.com . Participants are given access to pre-workshop materials there, allowing them time to prepare their thinking so they get the greatest benefits possible out of the workshop.

Participants will also complete the online DiSC Management assessment — an in-depth, research-validated online assessment and management task-specific report that is custom to each participant.

Applying the Learning after the Workshop

To ensure we deliver the most success for your participants, Padraig follows-up the workshop with a number of methods including:

Follow-up emails reminding participants of different parts of the curriculum and prompting them to think about that content and to apply it in that moment at work.

As well, since Flexible Leadership uses the DiSC Management profile, we provide each participant with complimentary access to comparison reports — in-depth comparisons between them and a colleague to help them build an even stronger relationship. When both parties agree, the system will generate a Comparison Report for each of them, with new and different detail than was covered in the group workshop.
