Emotional Intelligence Assessments

Many excellent assessment tools exist to measure different things. You’ve heard of IQ tests to measure intelligence. You’ve maybe heard of Myers-Briggs or DISC to assess personality type. Team members at Padraig Coaching & Consulting Inc are trained and licensed practitioners of a number of valuable assessment tools for individual and team success.

One area we assess, that is particularly important for executive success is “Emotional Intelligence” or “EI.” You may think it sounds “touchy-feely” and all about “soft skills” but Emotional Intelligence will likely have more influence on your personal career success, and your organization’s success, than any other single measurable factor. Some of our team members are highly certified practitioners in EI leadership training assessments, among other things.

So what is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is defined as:

a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

Why is that important?

Well, while emotional intelligence isn’t the sole predictor of human performance and leadership potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. Emotional intelligence is also not a static factor — to the contrary, one’s emotional intelligence can change over time and can be developed in targeted areas.
